Become a nurse in Finland, application

With this form, you can apply to participate in the Become a nurse in Finland study programme. This form is available until 31.5.2024. Applicants are interviewed before selection.

In spring 2023, interviews are organised on the following days: 10 March, 4 April and 15 May.

Do you have a nursing degree from outside EU, but haven't yet received a right to practice your profession from the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira)? Is your previous degree a Diploma in Nursing or equivalent? The Become a nurse in Finland study programme aims to enable you to become a licensed nurse in Finland.

In the programme
- you will receive guidance on how to attain further qualifications required by Valvira
- a personal study plan will be made for you
- You can study Finnish language in the health care field, and receive guidance on improving your language skills
- you can complete clinical internships
- you will receive personal guidance and support on applying for a right to practice nursing from Valvira

You will be able to complete some of the studies included in the programme according to your own schedule. Some studies will require attendance on weekdays between 8–16. Internships will be completed according to the schedule of the work place in question. All decisions regarding rights to practice are made at Valvira. Please note that this study programme does not lead to a Finnish nursing degree.

You can apply to the Become a nurse in Finland study programme if you have previously completed a degree in nursing outside the EU or EEA, e.g. a Diploma in Nursing.
